# Scaffold Types Template: Create and Edit

By standardizing these scaffold types, you eliminate spelling errors during scaffold creation and ensure consistency across data, analytics, and reporting.

***

## Purpose

The Scaffold Types Template allows your organization to define a clear, standardized list of scaffold types used in all projects.

Each type acts as a selectable option when creating a scaffold, helping ensure consistent terminology and improving tracking and reporting across sites.

The scaffold types template editor will open, displaying the current configuration or a blank form if it’s your first time creating one.

## Creating Scaffold Types

You can create as many scaffold types as your company requires. Each type represents a structural or operational category — for example, **Birdcage**, **Suspended**, or **Tower**.

***

### **Adding a Scaffold Type**

Click inside the **Type field** and enter a type (e.g., *Double*, *Cantilever*, *Stair Tower*).

<div align="left" data-with-frame="true"><figure><img src="https://3532476255-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FsVJ0qURLvzCOxTGXEZIZ%2Fuploads%2FTk8wMmkb1iJN2x3QLbVn%2FScreenshot%202025-10-30%20at%2008.26.08.png?alt=media&#x26;token=8cf610a3-4c5e-4bd3-95ff-b761be573cb9" alt="" width="265"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### **Add Additional Scaffold Types**

To add another scaffold type, click the green **Add Type** button at the bottom of the last Type field.

<div align="left" data-with-frame="true"><figure><img src="https://3532476255-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FsVJ0qURLvzCOxTGXEZIZ%2Fuploads%2F3JYlyc03OuiCmIhImA4c%2FScreenshot%202025-10-30%20at%2008.26.13.png?alt=media&#x26;token=7ad3d2bd-5a25-4508-b8ac-c0e19eacbefc" alt="" width="165"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

> **Tip:** When you click “**Update Template**,” all scaffold types are automatically sorted alphabetically **(A–Z)** to keep the list neat and standardized.

**Example:**

<div align="left" data-with-frame="true"><figure><img src="https://3532476255-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FsVJ0qURLvzCOxTGXEZIZ%2Fuploads%2FOTSUUW7eDUa28dR1T3T5%2FScreenshot%202025-10-30%20at%2008.44.55.png?alt=media&#x26;token=9ea2fbce-d08e-40b1-a323-d5768009b187" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### **Functionality**

The types you define here appear as options in the **scaffold creation process**, allowing each scaffold to be linked to its type.

This ensures accurate categorization for:

* **Reporting** (e.g., total scaffolds by type)
* **Analytics** (usage frequency, most common structures)
* **Compliance** (ensuring correct type selection for inspections and handovers)

### **Remove Scaffold Types**

To delete a **scaffold type**, click the **red trash icon** next to the item.

<div align="left" data-with-frame="true"><figure><img src="https://3532476255-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FsVJ0qURLvzCOxTGXEZIZ%2Fuploads%2F0MlrXZUmDdSPwnqyGgFY%2FScreenshot%202025-10-27%20at%2019.22.45.png?alt=media&#x26;token=d35dc418-f61c-4995-a061-f05d645e3b1c" alt="" width="64"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

When you delete a scaffold type, only that type will be permanently removed.

> **Tip:** Use caution — deleted types will no longer be available when creating scaffolds.

### Edit Scaffold Types

To edit existing entries, click inside the text field and type your updates.

***

### **Save and Update**

Once your scaffold types are finalized, click **Update Template** (bottom-right corner).

<div align="left" data-with-frame="true"><figure><img src="https://3532476255-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FsVJ0qURLvzCOxTGXEZIZ%2Fuploads%2FZ8y58ytCklfHBbuggi9Y%2FScreenshot%202025-10-28%20at%2008.51.06.png?alt=media&#x26;token=aec0b4ac-2c40-48de-8d27-b72363c57e98" alt="" width="225"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

The system will automatically save and apply your changes **across all connected users and devices**.

> **Tip:** Any future scaffold created using this template will have access to the scaffold types that you have added.

***

### **How It Works in Practice**

Once scaffold types are set:

* They appear as selectable options in the **Scaffold Creation Form**.
* Each created scaffold automatically carries its **type metadata**, used in dashboards and reports.
* When you click **Update Template**, your list of scaffold types is saved and automatically arranged from **A–Z** for consistency.
* Updates instantly apply across all devices and users.

### **Best Practices**

* Keep names short and descriptive.
* Use consistent terminology (e.g., *Stair Tower* instead of *Tower with Stairs*).
* Review your list periodically to remove outdated or redundant types.
* Align your scaffold types with internal terminology and safety documentation.
* Let the A–Z auto-sort handle organization — no need to reorder manually.

> **Tips:**
>
> * Group similar scaffold types conceptually (e.g., all suspended types).
> * Use capitalization consistently.
> * Only delete a type if it’s **no longer in use** in any active scaffold.
> * Add new types as your projects evolve or new scaffold configurations are introduced.
